Columbia, S.C. & Charlotte, N.C. — Attorneys with Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP and economic development professionals with Parker Poe Consulting have helped Demmel Inc. finalize plans to build its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Henderson County in western North Carolina. The U.S. subsidiary of German industrial design and identity technology leader Demmel AG will produce sillplates and emblems for two automakers including BMW and Tesla.
The 130-yearold Bavarian company will begin operations in a leased building in Appleland Business Park while it prepares a new facility on a 6.5-acre site at the former fairgrounds location in East Flat Rock, N.C. The $4 million investment is expected to create 50 new jobs in the next five years with hiring expected to begin this summer. The company already has operations in Germany, Switzerland, China and Singapore.
“Henderson County has great similarities to our hometown in the Bavarian mountains, a place where we have built long-lasting relationships and an international reputation for top-quality metal stamping, printing and injection molding processes,” said Tobias Holderried, Managing Director of Demmel AG. “We look forward to continuing that tradition in our new North Carolina home, too.”
